Mudding Style -

You’re in the mix of planning your ATV/UTV outing wondering, what do I wear? When it comes to hitting the trails on a side by side or 4-wheeler there can be a variety of different approaches you can take for attire. In this style edition we will bring you ideas on different riding styles, depending on your riding adventure. Before you head out the door, check the weather. This is what is going to dictate what you are going to wear.

When it comes to attire for hitting the trails, it’s nothing extravagant. Don’t stress about it too much. Throw on the clothing you aren’t worried about getting dirty, or the designated “riding” clothes that you may have.

A Few Must-Have Accessories for Riding the Trails:

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing

  • Waterproof Boots

  • Hat & Sunglasses/Eye Protection

On warmer days you can dress it down with a tank top, shorts, or pants. Cooler days are when you want to layer up - wear pants and a jacket. Some people swear by wearing old jeans, but remember, you will be sitting for hours - think of comfort!

The most simple and practical footwear would be waterproof shoes/boots. Throw your muck boots on and don’t worry about your feet getting dirty. Over the ankle boots come into play if you encounter mud. Especially if you have to get out or need to pull someone out. You don’t want to step in the mud and have wet feet for the rest of the day. Be prepared for anything by wearing waterproof boots. Just trust me!

With the given dirt trails - covering your eyes is a must. Sunglasses are the best bet for this. They will shield you from the sun and the elements that come with riding down the dirt trail. Now, there really isn’t a specific dress code to these adventures… wear whatever you want! But, keep in mind that you are going to get dusty and/or muddy.

In an area of ATV riding where you are getting down and dirty in the mud, you have to think on two different sides for style. Do you want to be full of mud from head to toe, or do you want to be able to take your top layer of clothing off and be clean? It's inevitable that you are going to get substantially more dirty on a 4-wheeler rather than a side by side. If you’re on the side of “let’s do this” and want to get muddy, wear your normal riding clothes and get after it! Ladies; tie your hair back, throw on a hat, and put your sunglasses on, because you’re gonna get muddy! If you’re like me and like to be somewhat clean after taking a layer off, go find a pair of waders and a waterproof jacket. You still get the same experience, but cleanup is much easier.

However you choose to style your attire for a day of riding, be prepared for fun. Turn your hat backwards, put your sunglasses on and get after it!
