The Barn at Stoney Hills -

I recently visited my friends’ wedding at The Barn at Stoney Hills in Cushing, MN. This place was unbelievable - WOW! The first thing my eyes were drawn to is that magnificent “Barn” and its rustic farmhouse charm, and they got this place for the whole weekend. I don’t know about you, but a three-day weekend wedding retreat sounds pretty amazing to me!

One of the most significant milestones you will experience throughout your life is marrying your one true love. A lifetime of promises made in a single day. Families come together to celebrate love, share happiness and join as one. It only takes a moment to say “ I Do”, whether you are at the courthouse, in a church, or on the hillside. How can such a monumental moment in your life happen so quickly? Well…it doesn't have to.

Driving up the road I first noticed how beautiful the grounds were. Despite the lack of rain, everything was so wonderfully green. I pulled up to one of their parking spots which looks down over the property with an amazing view! Walk down the road on foot or use one of the golf carts provided, while taking it all in. It’s that moment you walk through the barn door, where all you see and smell is wood. That earthy scent of timber brings you reassurance and warmth. What better environment to get married in? I thought this place was beautiful online (I mean the pictures are gorgeous) but in person it is literally breathtaking!

When you book The Barn at Stoney Hills for your wedding celebration, you get the keys to the entire place. From Friday morning through Sunday afternoon, it’s all yours. Hosting all of your festivities in one place definitely relieves some unnecessary stress. They offer housing on-site for 25 of your guests, in addition to separate suites for the bride and groom. The venue is completely customizable with indoor and outdoor spaces that can accommodate up to 350 guests. Catering to your ceremonial needs as well, there are multiple location options to choose from. We all know Minnesota weather can be rather inconsistent, so it’s nice to have those options available. Did I mention they also have decorations there for your use? The possibilities at Stoney Hills are endless, not to mention the people are amazing and so easy to work with!

409 acres of beautiful country land, waterways and green as far as the eye can see. The majestic property was once an elk farm and the home to Randy and Joni Hamson where they raised their two daughters. That is actually how they got the brilliant idea to share this picturesque property with the world. It all started out with their daughter’s wedding reception and dance in their shed. In 2019 they built the timber-framed barn, customized to hold weddings and special events.

The woodlands and wide open spaces make you feel like you’re in your own world, it’s so peaceful! The Hamson’s definitely thought of it all, from the important details to those small unique touches. The Barn at Stoney Hills is definitely a hidden gem worth checking out, you will not be disappointed!
