The Planning Process -

The secret is now out… I’m engaged! Being engaged comes with a lot of prepping and planning. All of those countless hours that I spent browsing Pinterest growing up are finally paying off. I get to plan the wedding that I always dreamed of.

Getting engaged and planning your wedding is such an exciting part of life! But it is important to not let the emotions overwhelm you, as planning can be both exciting and stressful at times.

After getting engaged, most couples set up an engagement session with a photographer of their choosing. When you start searching for photographers, check to see if they have wedding packages that include engagement sessions.

Next in the planning process would be to settle on a date. Whether that date has significance in your relationship or is within your preferred seasonal setting, that’s entirely up to you. Once that date is chosen, you can start touring venues.

There are many factors to consider when you start to look at venues. Do you want an indoor or outdoor location? Local or destination wedding? Do they have your specific date? And if they don’t, do you like the venue enough to settle on a different day?

I cannot stress this enough - discuss your budget with your fiancé and families before finalizing anything. The last thing you want to do is overspend and stress about how you will afford your wedding day.

My favorite part of planning so far has been asking some of my closest friends to stand by my side! I put together baskets with self care products, chocolate and a note that said either ‘Will you be my Maid of Honor?” or “Will you be my Bridesmaid?” Luckily, I was able to ask the girls in person because seeing their reaction was absolutely worth it.

Hands down, the most important part of your big day would be deciding on the dress that you are going to wear. I have never been more excited to go shopping, as I am to go wedding dress shopping! It is still two months out for me and this is going to be the longest two months ever. I can’t help but to look at Pinterest everyday, envisioning what I see myself wearing.

I have so many questions. Shape, Size, Color, Lace, Tulle, Sequins?! There are so many factors to consider when deciding on “The Dress”. Your dress may not be the first one you try on or at the first store you go to, but I can guarantee you, it is out there.

It is fun to bring an entourage to your dress appointment, but don’t overcrowd the room. Bring a few friends and family that are close to you, that you would want most to be involved in choosing your dress.

There are many different steps to planning your wedding and Brainerd Live Magazine is here to show you all things wedding related in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
