“Nitro” Jim Campbell - From Bucket List to NHRA Funny Car Driver -

His first brush with drag racing came on the safety squad at local dragstrips but he made his way onto the track at the wheel of one of Frank Hawley’s drag racing school cars, which is still light years away from driving a nitro Funny Car.

After receiving his pro license in 2015 with only 3 runs down the track, which Campbell was able to self-fund his tuition through his company, California Safety & Fire Specialists, he went on to race in his first event, the 2016 Winternationals.

“My first race was the 2016 Winternationals, and I remember running Alexis DeJoria in the first round. She beat me but we ran a 4.04. When we got out at the top end, Alexis goes, “Nice run. Who are you?”

Despite being new to the scene, his infectious sense of humor and charismatic personality made him an instant fan favorite. With each race, Campbell continued to refine his skills and push the limits of what was possible behind the wheel.

Through countless hours spent fine-tuning his car and honing his driving skills, Campbell began to make significant strides in the NHRA circuit. He consistently improved his performance with each race, earning respect from both fans and fellow racers. Eventually, all of Campbell's hard work started to pay off as he started beating out some of the best in the industry, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with.

Jim Campbell's journey in NHRA racing is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. Starting as an underdog in the highly competitive world of drag racing, Campbell faced numerous obstacles on his path to success, but has never backed down!
