Sunshine’s End of Summer Bash -
Most of us are feeling the bitter-sweetness of our sensational summer days coming to an end, as people are closing up their cabins for the season. But don’t you worry - it’s not too late for one last hurrah! Join Brainerd Live Magazine and Lakes Jam at Sunshine’s SummerHouse on August 26th for an end of the summer bash!
Tucked away from the busyness of town, just off of County Road 77 on the west side of Gull Lake, is this delightful hidden gem - Sunshine’s SummerHouse. Known for their BBQ and tequila, the name speaks for itself. Joe, the owner, is a pitmaster himself. He’s been smoking BBQ all of his life and you’ll see why, the moment you sink your teeth into a juicy rack of ribs or a smoky plate of brisket. During the pandemic, Joe and his wife Claire purchased the old Jake’s. Though the timing wasn’t ideal, they transformed it into a unique restaurant with incredible food and beverage.
Fun fact - Sunshine’s SummerHouse offers around 70 different tequilas year-round! One word… WOW! There are tequilas ranging from your standard Casamigos and Don Julio’s to the highest-end, Clase Azul Ultra, which is upwards of $300 per shot. Their extraordinary selection of tequila certainly sets them apart from other places in the Brainerd Lakes Area. If you have a taste for tequila, you must try their Tequila Old Fashioned! It’s the pleasant surprise you didn’t know you needed. Take my word for it. They aren’t a craft cocktail place for nothing. If you’re not feeling adventurous enough for that, might I recommend the Blood Orange Margarita. It’s the epitome of a refreshing summertime drink! They also offer high-end bourbon for all of you bourbon lovers out there.
You can always find something to enjoy at Sunshine’s. Hop on the bandwagon of the infamous SummerHouse Burger, topped with their Sunshine Burger Sauce. Or let your mouth water with the sweet/savory tastes of their BBQ Mac n Cheese. Adding a craft cocktail to your meal only seems fitting. Side note - they host Margarita Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Old Fashioned Wednesdays, and Smoked Brisket Saturdays!
In addition to Sunshine’s Smoked Brisket Saturday on August 26th, Brainerd Live Magazine, Lakes Jam and Brainerd International Raceway will be sponsoring ticket giveaways to Lakes Jam and BIR, as well as a cornhole tournament! The event will be held from 3-8pm. Brisket will be available at 5pm.
