Dennis Drummond Wine Co. -
As soon as the sun came out last Sunday afternoon, I knew it was time to make my way over to the patio of Dennis Drummond Wine Co. to enjoy the sweet and savory tastes of their rosemary chicken salad sandwich as I simultaneously sipped on a light-bodied glass of their house white wine. I know it’s not hard to believe, but the setting truly makes for a serene summertime lunch.
Kick it up a notch on a warm evening this summer by taking your significant other out for a romantic dinner there. Lounge in the comfort of adirondack chairs as you revel in laughter, a smooth glass of house red wine, and a balsamic vinaigrette steak salad. Amuse your palate even further as you share a delectable portberry drizzle cheesecake paired with dessert wine.
Owners Dennis and Judy Drummond opened their winery in May of 2017. Dennis is both the winemaker and production manager, with a masters degree in fermentation science from the University of California. No wonder why the wine is so good!
Coming from the UK, it seems almost necessary that they included castle-like elements to the building. Walking through is an experience in itself with the fascinating medieval touches of the old wood and wrought iron.
The winery also makes for an enthralling wedding venue! The beautiful ballroom seats up to 250 guests with a table and chair setup. Just down the hall, a bridal room allows getting ready before the event to have a stress-free, seamless transition. A captivating patio has a sublime view overlooking the field, with a charming wooden arch to say your “I do’s.” I can only imagine how stunning the pictures would be!
One of the best parts of the place is that they included a bistro restaurant in the building. So you can relish in the robustness of the winery atmosphere all year round.
There’s a chalkboard across an entire wall featuring their menu, adding to the impeccable bistro vibes! The bistro is open every day from 11am to 8:30pm for lunch and dinner - offering a variety of soup, sandwiches, salads, pizza, entrees, appetizers, daily specials, and desserts.
The wine options range from House Rosé, House White, House Red, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Dessert Wine, and Sangria. My personal favorite is the House White. I found it to be comparable to a supple Pinot Grigio. If wine isn’t your thing, they do offer beer and spirits, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
I highly recommend visiting Brainerd’s chateau-style winery if you’re a wine connoisseur or just simply enjoy eating good food in a relaxing environment.
