When a new distillery opens, their flagship product is often a whiskey. But if you want to produce a single malt you have to wait at least three years while it matures. In the meantime, to start bringing a little cash in, they often make a vodka or a gin, which can be made and sold immediately.
The crew at Five Rocks did it right from the beginning! When comparing successful distilleries to the ones that floundered, they found the worst thing they can do is think that the vodka is something to churn out quickly while they lavish their attention on the whiskey. However, if you don’t produce a good spirit, it reflects on your reputation before your star product has even come onto the market. So your vodka has to be as good as it can be.
Five Rocks Distilling Co. is a family owned and operated microdistillery in the heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area. The Five Rocks family is passionate about creating a legacy of products that reflect the spirit of Minnesota. The microdistillery and cocktail room are located at 25 Washington St. NE, Brainerd. Knowing that atmosphere is the second driving force that brings people in, it gives you the feeling of a high end modern distillery, sticking to its rustic roots.
Their flagship products include Cold North Vodka, made from locally grown wild rice and sugar beets, and Lizzy’s Gin - a unique new American style gin. Newly introduced spirits include a small-batch Amaretto, Rocks Roast Coffee Liqueur and Cowboy Coffee which is a ready-to-pour bourbon forward spirit with a delicate caramel, vanilla and coffee finish.
